“The other twin” – Lucio Schiavon

From October 22 to November 14, 2010, to be held in Venice, in the charming rooms Palazzeta Tito, an exhibition of Lucio Schiavon called "The other twin." The choice of the title of this exhibition was born from the thought that Schiavon the city of Venice, an important historical and artistic lagoon and the town of Mestre, urban and metropolitan center, connected to Venice by the famous Ponte della Libertà. The two cities of the Veneto, which both overlook the waters of the Adriatic Sea, are considered by Schiavon so close physically, as distant in style and in the industrial and cultural developments of both. What to think about the artist is not so much the transformation over the years the two cities, but on how the Venetian lagoon used to historical monuments, churches, palaces and stately ornamental bridges, can build an identity, in the land where life is different, where the architectural style of the city is different and where the atmosphere is more underground. The same can be said of those accustomed to the land that is surrounded in a world that is not his, of style, art and tourism, thus leaving out the urban style. The exhibition at Palazzo Tito, then, has the purpose of showing the two cities joined together because physical proximity and their diversity in styles, and opportunities that each offers.
